In the four decades because poe currency was first released, I’ve tried to play with it countless times. I begin a new personality and, so long, abandon them because I feel overwhelmed with the sheer intricacy–the commodity-based market, freeform character progression, and the always nagging sense that I am enjoying it the incorrect way. However, with the release of its massive Fall of Oriath growth a month ago, I decided to try once more, and I have seen the light. Path of Exile is a concept crafter’s dream come true, the type of POE game with apparently endless ways to construct and optimize your ideal character. On top of a typical leveling process is a passive skill shrub that makes Final Fantasy 10’s Sphere Grid look like a ‘connect the dots’ puzzle book for toddlers–and that is only the start. There’s an Ascension system for further focusing your personality, a Pantheon system which gives you more passive bonuses for killing a variety of gods and trapping their own spirits, the ability gems that lets you essentially spellcraft–the list continues. And on. And on.
Oh, and I have not even mentioned loot. Never have I been haunted by an inventory full of vague knick-knacks and gizmos that I understand do something but have no clue if that something is even worth doing. If you’re someone who enjoys understanding the fundamental concepts of a POE game immediately, buy poe exalted orbs can feel impossible.
